Balbriggan Cricket Club are delighted to announce Patrick Botha as our Club Professional and Coach for 2019. Pat will bring a wealth of experience to our club having played over 200 games for the VKB Knights & Free State in South Africa including 90 First Class games. Pat also has huge experience of Irish conditions having been with Carrickfergus for the past 3 Irish Summers.
As a Cricket South Africa Level 2 Coach (ECB Level 3 equivalent) Pat will add to the growing number of highly qualified coaches at our club. A keen coach of kids of all ages and a good club man according to all reports , we are confident that Pat will make a immediate and lasting impact on our Junior Section and Players.
On the field Pat is a left handed batsman and bowls right arm off spin. From 90 First Class games he has scored 5000 runs at an average of 41 and taken 122 wickets at an average of 29. A leader on the pitch Pat is the current captain of the Free State side and he will add valuable experience to our exciting young squad for 2019.
Pat has enjoyed success here in Ireland also scoring nearly 1300 runs and taking 37 wickets in 2016 and 2017. A broken thumb curtailed his season in 2018 but was still able to make important contributions when he returned from injury.
It will be another exciting year at Balbriggan Cricket Club as we continue to grow and develop as a club and we are delighted that Pat has agreed to be a part of it for 2019.
Finally a huge thanks to Robbie Humphries for helping us link up with Pat.
Welcome to The Brig Pat 🏏
